The Wildlife Rescue Center is a grass-root, not-for profit 501(c) (3) organization that rescues and rehabilitates injured, sick, or orphaned native Missouri wildlife. We accomplish many important tasks with a very small staff. Therefore, we rely on volunteers to help with many essential tasks including:
  • Direct animal care
  • Assistance with wildlife and environmental educational programs
  • Answering phones at the Center
  • Office work
  • Maintenance and building animal enclosures
  • Graphic design
  • Helping to plan and orchestrate special events
  • Serving on fundraising committees
  • Public Relations
  • Internship Programs
When you volunteer, you will have the opportunity to meet other people who have similar interests. It is also a unique opportunity to learn more about native Missouri wildlife and give back to the community.

We utilize the expertise of more than 150 active volunteers at the Wildlife Rescue Center. We welcome individuals from diverse backgrounds and abilities. Currently we have volunteers in the business, education, and technical fields, homemakers, retirees and students. Opportunities are available for interns, scouts, and community service projects. Whatever path you choose, your efforts will make a difference in our animals' lives. We sincerely appreciate your assistance and expertise.

PATHWAYS

There are several different paths for getting involved and volunteering!

Adult Volunteer Program

Volunteers who are 18 years of age and older can work directly with the animals or choose from many other opportunities. We provide training and usually pair new volunteers with a seasoned volunteer who will serve as their Volunteer Mentor.

JUNIOR WILDLIFE PROGRAM (JWP)

The Junior Wildlife Program meets once a month, is a member-based program, and is for youth ages 6-12 years old. Junior Wildlife Members do not work directly with the animals, but they have the opportunity to view them at the Center. Our JWP program increases understanding and appreciation of the environment and wildlife. Hands-on activities and field trips are also a part of this educational program.

Click Here for more information on the JWP.

Young Adult Program

Volunteers who are 16 & 17 years old are Young Adult Volunteers and can handle the animals with a waiver signed by a parent or guardian, and they no longer need to have a guardian present when they volunteer.

Community Service

Is your group or company organizing a Community Service Day? Do you need to fulfill community service hours for school or a court ordered time frame? We can design a project and assemble tasks to fit your needs!
